Kreator Uniondale Concert reviews
AC/DC....the BOMB! Opening acts...thumbs down!
Initially, my wife and I brought our nine year old son for his first major rock experience at the show. He loves Kreator music and wanted to experience the event.
The beginning was quite rocky with Annvil making sure those phrases were audible and needing to use F-bombs on a regular basis. Major turn off. I know it's a rock show but really how many times does someone need to hear "F the universe" etc....
As the bell was lowered and all knew what was to happen Brian ran across the stage grabbed the bell rope and OOPS! Second try lead to a teeny tiny "bong" and then they ripped into song. Probably a timingthing but it would have been great to actually hear the bell BONG as proper intro to Hell's Bells.
Then the headliners came out, the raucous applause was deafening! Kicking into rock'n'roll train was a soft beginning for the boys. Then song # 3...."Back in Black" got the crowd groovin' bigtime. "Dirty deeds" brought a smile to my son's face (still with his fingers in his ears) finally.
We moved to the rear center area where we could view the screens easily and the volume was much more acceptable. The highlight of my night came as Angus hit a series of soft notes and my son realized it was TNT and he started to air jam! The look on his face and watching him rock out for the next five minutes was worth every nickle , dime and penny!
After Rosie we headed for the gates hoping to beat the masses onto Route 1. As we approached the car we could clearly hear a tremendous version of Highway to Hell and then stood in salute as thye tore into "For Those about to Rock".
We headed onto the highway home after the show.
The biggest disappointments besides the openeers were the amount of people smoking cigarettes in the walkways where the food and drink spots were. Sad to see so much smoke in an outdoor arena.
Not much weed smoking in our area but two dudes who decided to move their butts into seats in front of us kept sticking their j in my sons face and I had to deal with them. To their credit they apologized and put it out but really know your surroundings especially when you don't belong there!
